Who’zTheDaddy?™ offer all types of immigration DNA tests performed at a laboratory which been accredited by the Ministry of Justice as a body that may carry out parentage tests directed by the civil courts in England and Wales under section 20 of the Family Law Reform Act 1969.

Immigration DNA testing is a very important form of documentation that can be used to support immigration paperwork by providing scientific evidence of a biological relationship between tested parties. An immigration paternity test, for example, will provide proof of paternity to the immigration authorities and an immigration maternity test will provide proof of maternity between mother and child.

An immigration DNA test is usually advised when other documents that would normally attest to the biological relationship between two or more individuals (for example a birth certificate) are either unavailable, of questionable authenticity or not up to the standards of the UK immigration authorities (The Home Office).

Science behind the test

Who’zTheDaddy?™ offer a range of tests for immigration purposes including parentage testing (such as paternity testing and maternity testing) and relationship DNA testing (such as sibling testing and grandparent testing). Samples for immigration testing are collected by means of mouth swabs which are rubbed inside the mouth for ten seconds in order to collect cheek cells. We then extract and amplify the DNA using a process known as Polymerase Chain Reaction.

To note that the laboratory testing processes for Court Approved/Immigration and Peace of Mind DNA tests are exactly the same. The difference is that Court Approved/immigration tests require a witness, proof of identity and special chain of custody procedures. A Peace of Mind DNA Test is not legally binding because there is no proof that samples have been collected from the correct participants.

The peace of mind test is intended to be a discreet and private way of allowing families to resolve any questions without involving other parties. The Court Approved DNA tests require that an independent witness, such as a GP or health professional, oversees the sample collection process and is able to verify photo ID and maintain chain of custody.

Sample Collection

Samples for an immigration test need to be collected by a sampler – a neutral, third party person who is responsible for collecting the samples and establishing the identity of the people taking part in the test. If you are based in the UK, you will need to find a sampler and provide Who’zTheDaddy?™ with their address. We will send the kit and instructions directly to them.

If you are based outside the UK, sample collection will take place at a British High Commission (BHC) or by a sampler recognised by the BHC. Samples will be collected by the appointed sampler. Additional fees for sample collection will be applied and will be paid locally at the time of the appointment.
