At Home Paternity Test from Who’zTheDaddy?

If you have questions about whether or not you, or someone else, is really the father of a child, you can get those questions answered by carrying out a paternity test. Anyone who wishes to determine who the true father of a child is can use an ‘at home paternity test’ to see whether a father's DNA matches up with the DNA of a baby, child or adult.

These days DNA tests are used for a variety of purposes and are so accurate and irrefutable that they stand as evidence in a court of law and are regularly used by forensic scientists to match samples at crime scenes to the perpetrators. In the case of an at home paternity test though, the process is far simpler, a swab of DNA from inside the cheek, can be compared with a swab from another person and if the DNA matches it's confirmed that the two people are related.

If there is an insufficient match, however, the two people are not related. Sometimes, by finding out which man is a child’s father, problems can be resolved and lives can be improved. Discovering the truth can also give the child the chance to know who their real biological father is which is invaluable from a genealogical standpoint and can give the child indications of what to expect in later life such as inherited health problems (like a genetic tendency towards heart disease or liver failure) and ways in which to deal with them.

There are lots of reasons why people choose to test the paternity of a child, young adult or even themselves. Sometimes legal issues such as guardianship trigger the need to carry out a paternity test, other times curiosity plays a factor, or in some cases the identity of the true biological father has been a mystery for years and a young adult or child finally wants to know the truth.

Performing An At Home Paternity Test

If you perform a paternity test, it can be carried out on anyone, regardless of whether they're a month old baby or approaching 80 years of age. However, tests on unborn children who are still in the womb are called prenatal paternity tests and are more complicated.

These tests need to be done under controlled conditions in a private clinic and carried out by professionals. Prenatal paternity tests involve using a needle to collect tissue from the amniotic fluid within the womb. In many cases, waiting until the baby is born and using a paternity test comfortably at home is a less risky and less stressful way to discover the paternity of a child.

The results from an at home paternity test kit are usually quick to come back to you too. Once the swabs from inside the cheek of the child and prospective father (or prospective fathers) have been collected and sent off, the test results can be back within 5 working days.

Test results can also often come back quicker from a paternity test carried out at home than a court ordered one because laboratories are computerised and use robotic instruments to avoid human error and because there's less red tape (or papers to be filed) with an at home paternity test than there is with official, court ordered ones.
