DNA Test – Amazing Stories

In a story that has captivated the world, the family of a woman lost in the jungle for 19 years have withdrawn permission for a DNA test.

Why deny a DNA test?

A woman was recently found in a remote village on the Cambodian-Vietnamese border, having been lost in the jungle for 19 years. She was claimed by Sal Lou to be his daughter who disappeared several years earlier while tending a buffalo herd. However, when he withdrew permission for a DNA test the mystery deepened - if she was his daughter, why deny a DNA test?

DNA test to prove identity

When she was found, Rochom P’ngient's father said she was bare bones and scuttling like a monkey on the ground feeding on grains of rice, but when photos revealed her to be a healthy young woman suspicions were aroused and officials asked for a DNA test to prove her identity.

Deepening mystery

Lou withdrew consent to a DNA test to confirm her identity and police had to cordon off their home to keep the world’s media at bay. The reason Lou gave for withdrawing his consent to the DNA test was that he wanted to be left alone and make up for lost time with his daughter.

DNA test – ultimate proof

It transpired that a further mysterious naked man had been spotted in the Cambodian jungle, so now the only way to truly confirm that the man was the woman’s father would be a DNA test.

Identifying marks

Suspicions deepened as the man who claimed to be her father said that scars on her wrist, sustained whilst playing with a knife as a child, should identify her, although some believe the scars to be a result of being bound at the wrist – a common practice in some remote villages for the mentally ill. Only a DNA test can prove her identity for certain.
